Custom Savannah 723

6' rods seem to only be aimed at ultra light fisherman now, and as of the time of this review there is exactly ONE (1) 6' med-heavy/fast rod made w/ a high quality carbon fiber blank on the market.

My 723 casting rod is paired w/ a Daiwa Tatula 100 and the rod w/ reel in place balances perfectly at the end of the reel seat threads. The rod itself feels almost weightless but has the power you'd expect from a med-heavy rod, i had no problem landing 5.6lb bass that ran me thru 15 feet of thick coontail. The rod's sensitivity also performs exactly how you'd expect from a high quality carbon fiber blank, you can easily feel the difference between catching/dragging your lure on weeds and a fish strike.

After 20+ trips i could not be happier w/ how the the rod has performed. This was my first rod aimed at a more serious fisherman and the price difference was easily justified. Performance aside, the fact that the blank and rod were manufactured here in the US is icing on the cake. I can't speak on rods in the next price bracket up but at this one you can't beat the Savannah 723.
